Cancer care, also referred to as oncology services, is provided at Hillsdale Hospital in collaboration with ProMedica Cancer Institute. This allows for a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach, connecting patients to a vast network of oncology experts, treatments and support services closer to home.

The ProMedica Cancer Institute maintains an office inside the Three Meadows Medical Building for telehealth visits with ProMedica Physicians medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and genetic counselors. You will also have face-to-face interaction with your nurse navigator.
Nurse navigators are onsite to:
- Help guide patients through their cancer care journey by facilitating telehealth appointments.
- Work with the care team to provide compassionate, supportive and individualized care.
- Schedule appointments for chemotherapy, radiation and subsequent testing and procedures.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families.
Patients have the option to utilize lab, radiology tests, infusion and blood transfusion services at Hillsdale Hospital, and oncology treatment services, such as chemotherapy at ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital and radiation at ProMedica Hickman Cancer Center, located just miles apart in Adrian, Mich. Patients will also have access to the ProMedica Cancer Institute Healing Care Program that provides virtual cancer wellness services to patients, survivors and family members.
Approximately 5-10 percent of cancers may be caused by an inherited gene mutation, passed from parent to child, known as a hereditary cancer syndrome. Members of a family with a hereditary cancer syndrome are more likely to develop cancer than the general population.
In collaboration with Hillsdale Hospital, ProMedica Cancer Institute’s Genetics Program provides hereditary risk assessments, such as genetics testing, for individuals who qualify.
If you believe you could benefit from a hereditary risk assessment, speak with your provider, who can refer you to genetic services through ProMedica Cancer Institute’s Genetics Program. The program is run by board-certified, licensed genetic counselors who can meet with you virtually to discuss options, such as genetic testing based on your risk factors.
