Thank you for choosing Hillsdale Hospital to care for you. We work to make that choice easy by providing high-quality care you trust.

We’re fortunate to have a thriving rural hospital providing critical services to our community, while continually adding more specialty providers and customizing healthcare to meet your needs. In 1915, Dr. & Mrs. T.H. Midgley founded what is now Hillsdale Hospital to do just that. Today, we offer comprehensive care for you and your family, from same-day family medicine appointments and orthopedic surgery to short-stay rehab and everything in between.

Our goal is to continue expanding the services we offer, strengthen our long-term stability, and provide the best, most up-to-date care as science and medicine continue to advance.

Because we are a not-for-profit, rural hospital, we rely on personal donations and value their role in fulfilling our mission. As an independent, locally-based healthcare provider, the support of our community is critical to our future.

A gift of $25, $50 or more will help fund key projects and services so we can bring the next generation of care to the next generation of patients. Some of our current initiatives include:

  • Accessibility: We are making it easier for our patients to get the care they need when they need it. For many in our community, it’s difficult to take time off work or travel all the way into town for an appointment. In the past year, we’ve introduced family medicine in two locations in Hillsdale County (Hillsdale, including walk-in care and Reading, including same-day appointments).
  • Expanded Services: While many rural healthcare providers are eliminating services, offering less and less, we are doing the opposite. This fall, we brought in urology and vascular care—both services residents previously would have traveled outside the county to receive. In August, we brought two new surgeons and a new nurse practitioner to our orthopedics practice. More new services are coming soon, and we can’t wait to share them with the community.
  • Strategic Partnerships: We know that the best way to provide the best care is to build relationships with partners who meet our standards for high-quality, patient-centered care. Just in the past six months, we have partnered with the University of Toledo Medical Center for orthopedics and University of South Florida for our pain management clinic. We are currently developing a full continuum of wound care in partnership with nearby providers, offering a multi-disciplinary approach for inpatients, outpatients and home bound patients.
  • Facility Improvements: As our facility ages, we continue to invest in its future by renovating and upgrading our space. Last year, we created a new outpatient lab at the front of the hospital, relocating the gift shop to a new space next door to the cafeteria. We completed a new activity and dining room on the McGuire short-stay rehab unit. We replaced our heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit on the main hospital building with a brand-new unit. We have more exciting changes and upgrades on the way, including better space for patients and families who are waiting for care or waiting for their loved ones receiving care.

We believe in the power of strong rural healthcare and are firmly committed to taking care of you where you live, here in our community. We have been caring for Hillsdale area residents for more than 100 years, and we look forward to doing so for 100+ more.
