“Dr. Loganathan has been a trusted partner of ours for several years now, and we’re thrilled to officially welcome him to the Hillsdale Hospital team as a valued employee,” said Jeremiah J. Hodshire, president and chief executive officer. “This spine center will serve our local community with the same advanced neurosurgical care we’ve been providing, but with increased capacity and a more seamless patient experience.”

Hillsdale Spine Center provides a full spectrum of neurosurgical care, including minimally invasive spine surgery, spine fusion, spine fracture treatments, and treatment for herniated discs. Dr. Loganathan is also a state leader in motion preservation for cervical total disc replacements, a surgical alternative to spine fusion that involves replacing the degenerated disc with an artificial implant. The center also offers bone stimulation and spinal cord stimulation, a pain management therapy using a stimulator device connected to nerves in the patient’s back.

“I am very excited to help start Hillsdale Spine Center,” said Dr. Loganathan. “It has been a great experience practicing in this community for the past two years. As my patient panel has grown, it has become clear that a strong partner like Hillsdale Hospital is crucial to future growth. I look forward to continuing to care for our patients in Hillsdale, Jackson and other surrounding communities in the years to come.”

The Hillsdale location will be located in the orthopedic clinic, now Hillsdale Orthopedic & Spine Center, at 61 W. Carleton Road. In Jackson, office visits will be available at 1400 E. Michigan Ave., Jackson, Michigan 49202.

All surgeries will be performed at Hillsdale Hospital with a skilled support team and industry-leading technology. Last fall, the hospital announced the arrival of the VELYS™ Spine robot, which provides tailored surgical guidance using a hybrid robotic arm and accompanying robotic assistance navigation platform. Hillsdale Hospital was the first in the state and among the first ten in the country to acquire this technology.

“Our team truly loves working with Dr. Loganathan,” said Lauren Schneider, director of surgical services. “He brings not only exceptional neurological expertise, but a deep sense of compassion for every patient he cares for. Knowing that our friends, neighbors and families in Hillsdale and the surrounding area can access this level of spine care close to home makes our work even more meaningful.”

Dr. Loganathan is known in the Hillsdale community for his patient care, especially for his calls to every patient after their procedure to follow up and provide further information. His patient care approach and advanced expertise have established him as a reliable and compassionate neurosurgeon.

“I was able to express exactly what I was feeling,” said one neurosurgery patient in a video testimonial. “I had my daughter with me the first time I went [to an appointment] and I really appreciate him taking the time to talk to her. My daughter is five…and she had questions. He took the time to explain in five-year-old terms.”

Hillsdale Spine Center is open for appointments Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Hillsdale location and Fridays at the Jackson location. To make an appointment, call (517) 439-5411 or learn more at hillsdalehospital.com/spine.
