Jonesville native Spencer joins practice as fourth OB-GYN
HILLSDALE, Mich.—Hillsdale Hospital announced today the addition of Dr. Sarah Spencer to its Hidden Meadows OB-GYN practice. She joins OB-GYNs Alfred Bediako, Danyelle O’Dell and Brian Sinischo; certified nurse midwife Rachel McCormack and nurse practitioner Alyssa Hartley.
“We are excited to continue the growth of Hidden Meadows OB-GYN, bringing in another physician with roots in the community,” Rachel Lott, director of marketing and development said. “We have a robust practice with a team of talented providers who work together to give our patients the best care and experience possible.”
Spencer, a Jonesville native, most recently practiced with Ascension Medial Group at Borgess Women’s Health. She attended medical school at Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her OB-GYN residency at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Mich., serving as chief obstetrics and gynecology resident in her final year.
“I am excited about joining the team at Hillsdale Hospital,” Spencer said. “It is a privilege to be able to provide OB-GYN care in my hometown.”
During her residency, Spencer completed research on the effectiveness of antibiotic azithromycin for infection prevention after cesarean delivery. She also served as a clinical instructor in the department of osteopathic surgical specialties at Michigan State. Since 2020, Spencer has served as a clinical assistant professor in obstetrics and gynecology at Western Michigan University’s School of Medicine.
“As she returns to the Hillsdale area, Dr. Spencer’s commitment to this community is already well-established,” Lott said. “She is highly-skilled and her experience in both patient care and clinical instruction is evident in the excellent care she provides.”
