Hillsdale Hospital Hosting Blood Drive with American Red Cross

All blood types accepted at blood drive on Monday, June 30 in Hillsdale

Hillsdale Hospital will host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross to improve the security of local and national blood banks.

WHO: All blood types from eligible donors will be accepted at the blood drive.

WHAT: Community blood drive to ensure the availability of blood for patients suffering from chronic diseases, traumatic injuries and other conditions requiring blood transfusions.

WHEN: Monday, June 30, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WHERE: Hillsdale United Brethren Church, 1300 S. Hillsdale Rd.

To make an appointment, visit redcrossblood.org/give, then enter the 49242 zip code or sponsor code Hillshospital. Walk-in donors are also accepted.

“We encourage both regular and new donors to sign up for the blood drive,” said Kyrsten Newlon, communications and donor development manager at Hillsdale Hospital. “It only takes an hour to contribute to life-saving care by giving blood, and with the current national shortage in the blood banks, every donation counts!”

Blood is routinely transfused to patients with cancer and other diseases, premature babies, organ transplant recipients and trauma victims, according to the Red Cross. Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, B negative and A negative. Type O negative is the universal blood type that can be safely transfused to anyone, and is often used to treat trauma patients.
