COVID-19 Response Forces Reduction in Staff, Limitation of Services
HILLSDALE, Mich.—Due to significant loss in patient volumes and revenue in the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States, Hillsdale Hospital has been forced to reduce its staff through retirements and layoffs, both voluntary and involuntary.
Hillsdale Hospital Seeking Donations of PPE, Community Support
“We are so grateful for the gifts and donations that we have already received, completely unsolicited, from members of the community,” John Robertson, chief quality officer, said. “We are now asking for that support so we can be well-equipped to care for our community during the COVID-19 outbreak.”
Hillsdale Hospital Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19
HILLSDALE, Mich.—A Hillsdale Hospital employee has tested positive for COVID-19—the first employee confirmed with the virus. The individual did not work in direct patient care and has been self-isolating for the past eight days, beginning when they first experienced symptoms.
Hillsdale Hospital Launches Virtual Visits
HILLSDALE, Mich.—Hillsdale Hospital launched Virtual Visits today, allowing patients to be seen by their doctors and providers from the comfort of their home. The service was already in the works, but social distancing and the stay home order due to COVID-19 sped up the launch.
Hospital & Healthcare Services Remain Open During Stay Home Order
HILLSDALE, Mich.—Hillsdale Hospital and its outpatient clinics and services remain open during the Stay Safe, Stay Home executive order issued by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Monday. Healthcare is defined as essential under the order, and residents are permitted to leave their homes for doctors’ appointments, physical therapy, testing and other healthcare services.
