Hillsdale Hospital to Host Blood Drive on February 24

American Red Cross and Hillsdale Hospital team up to host blood drive at Hillsdale United Brethren Church

Hillsdale Hospital will host a community blood drive on February 24, 2026 with the American Red Cross to provide life-saving blood donations to local and national blood banks. The Red Cross declared a severe national blood shortage last month due to a 35% decrease in blood supplies. Donations continue to be in demand as blood drives across the country are impacted by increased rates of flue and other illness, as well as severe winter weather. Hillsdale Hospital invites eligible donors to participate in next week’s blood drive to support the local community and beyond with the supplies needed to care for patients.

WHAT: Community blood drive to ensure the availability of blood for patients suffering from chronic diseases, traumatic injuries and other conditions requiring blood transfusions.

WHO: All blood types from eligible donors will be accepted at the blood drive. Donors will be evaluated for eligibility through an online questionnaire and at the blood drive before donating.

WHEN: Tuesday, February 24, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WHERE: Hillsdale United Brethren Church, 1300 S. Hillsdale Rd., Hillsdale, MI 49242

Donors can make an appointment at redcrossblood.org/give or walk in and complete registration at the drive.

Blood is routinely transfused to patients with cancer and other diseases, premature babies, organ transplant recipients and trauma victims, according to the Red Cross. Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, B negative and A negative. Type O negative is the universal blood type that can be safely transfused to anyone, and is often used to treat trauma patients.
