HCHC Receives Grant for Newborn Hearing Screening

Hillsdale Community Health Center is pleased to announce the recent grant award in the amount of $18,670 from the Carl’s Foundation in Detroit. This grant will allow our newly constructed Obstetrics Unit to utilize state of the art technology in newborn hearing screens. This equipment has been purchased and implemented for the quick identification of newborn hearing loss or deficiencies.

Staff members have received extensive training on this new equipment which is a portable screening system from Natus and is the gold standard in newborn hearing screening, with clinically tested and proven functionality. The system allows OB staff to print statistical reports and hearing results for use by health care professionals, inclusion in charts and distribution to families.

We are pleased to offer this new technology to ensure that each baby delivered at HCHC is thoroughly evaluated by highly trained nursing professional utilizing the most current technology in health care.
