Full Time | 8am – 4:30 pm M-F | OB/GYN Clinic

Job Summary

The Medical Scribe’s duties include performing all clerical and information technology functions for a physician in a clinic setting. This includes primary responsibility for the operation of the electronic health records and electronic dictation system.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments through education and experience
  • Must be able to anticipate physician needs to facilitate the flow of the clinic
  • Must be discreet and tactful so as not to distract medical staff from patient care
  • Good judgment, organizational ability, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated
  • BLS certification (available through Hillsdale Hospital)

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures in the Electronic Medical Record as they are being performed or dictated by the physician
  • Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician, ensuring that letters are mailed or faxed on a daily basis in a timely manner
  • Research contact information for referring physicians, coordinate referrals, prepare operative reports, and make phone calls
  • Comply with specific standards that apply to the style of medical records and to the legal and ethical requirements for preparing medical documents while keeping patient information confidential
  • Collect, organize and catalog data for physician quality reporting system
