Becker’s Hospital Review Recognizes JJ Hodshire and Mark Gross


Hillsdale Hospital’s chief executive officer and chief financial officer were nationally recognized for their exceptional work by Becker’s Hospital Review. President and Chief Executive Officer Jeremiah J. Hodshire was featured on the 2026 Rural Hospital and Health System Presidents and CEOs to Know list and Chief Financial Officer Mark Gross was featured on the 2026 Hospital and Health System CFOs to Know list. Hodshire joined Hillsdale Hospital’s leadership team in 2010 as chief operating officer and became president and CEO in 2020. In his six years serving as Hillsdale Hospital’s leader, the hospital has been recognized for several years in a row as a Top Workplace in Michigan by the Detroit Free Press, a Top Workplace by USA Today, a Top Workplace for Healthcare Workers by Energage and a Top Workplace for Frontline Workers by Bucketlist. Hodshire was also recognized by Crain’s Detroit Business as a Notable Leader in Healthcare for 2026 and received the 2026 Leadership Excellence in Healthcare award from the Malcolm Baldrige Foundation.
Hodshire is a steadfast advocate for rural healthcare through public awareness efforts and communication with state and national legislators. Hillsdale Hospital’s podcast, Rural Health Today, brings national attention to vital rural health topics through interviews with rural health experts.

Mark Gross, Chief Financial Officer
Since joining the leadership team in 2018, Gross has overseen a financial transformation at Hillsdale Hospital, sustaining the organization through massive changes and uncertainty within the healthcare industry. Some of his accomplishments at Hillsdale Hospital include creating revenue cycle efficiencies, renegotiating payer contracts and streamlining budget processes. These key changes have saved the hospital millions of dollars, increasing overall financial stability and days of cash on hand.
